Cleaning and Disinfection of Water Systems
Water systems can be cleaned and disinfected quickly and with the minimal disruption to supply using a Silver Stabilised Hydrogen Peroxide biocide.
This relativly new technique enables the disinfectant to be left in the system and allowed to degrade naturally over time, allowing the use of the water during the disinfection process. This reduces the time on site compared to other techniques, so disrupting services as little as possible.
This technique is also good at stripping away biofilm, layers of bacteria that can accumulate in pipes, see below, and which can harbour legionella. Biofilm is a
good place for legionella to grow as the layers of bacteria protect the bacteria from conventional biocides, such as Sodium Hypochlorite, used in chlorine disinfections. Used regularly this biocide can help to keep your systems legionella free.

If it is necessary to maintain a residual in times of high counts or system problems, chemical can be left on site and dosing can be undertaken by the client or an automatic dosing system installed where access may be difficult.
Another similar technique for water treatment, Copper and Silver Ionisation, is a good technique in times of needing to maintain a disinfectant residual in the system. This method requires equipment to be installed on site, so a good method to employ is to treat first with the Hydrogen Peroxide Silver and then install Ionisation equipment to maintain a residual.
